Katerina Papanikolaou

Katerina Papanikolaou is a psychotherapist specialising in person-centred counselling and psychotherapy for adolescents and adults. She completed her four-year specialisation in person-centred counselling and psychotherapy at the University of Strathclyde, Scotland, holding the European Certificate of Psychotherapy (ECP). She also holds an MSc in Developmental Child Psychology from UCLan, England (MSc Psychology of Child Development, University of Central Lancashire).

Therapeutic Approach

The person-centred approach is based on creating a therapeutic relationship of trust, acceptance and empathy. The goal is to create a safe space where you can freely explore your experiences and discover the strength within you.

Experience

Since 2016, she has worked with organisations such as The Smile of the Child, ARSIS and Together for the Child, providing therapeutic support to children experiencing behavioural issues, abuse and trauma. She delivered educational seminars to parents and adolescents focusing on emotional support and learning difficulties. In 2019, she began working with unaccompanied minors in refugee settings, addressing trauma, grief and loss. She has extensive clinical experience with mental health issues including depression, panic attacks, anxiety disorders, psychosomatic symptoms, grief and trauma management, and personality disorders.
